An important and fine antique Victorian 19th century maple and burr alder bedroom suite, comprising a 6’ wide bed , a three door wardrobe, a cheval dressing chest and a pair of chairs. This is believed to the only suite of its kind. It was exhibited in The Great Exhibition of 1862 at crystal palace and is illustrated in The Art Journal of the same period. Formerly the property of the Count and Countess Frasinetto-Frescobaldi. Purchased at the exhibition by the Count’s ancestors and shipped to Italy where it remained for the next one hundred and forty years. This suite is signed by the makers Doveston , Bird and Hull, Manchester. In all likelihood it was designed by Bruce.J.Talbert who worked at this time for the Manchester firm. This journeyman also worked for the prestigious firm of Gillows. This rare suite is exceptional quality, using the finest of materials; the pair of chairs retaining their original deep buttoned watered blue silk.
