Antique super quality Geo III mahogany secretaire bookcase, in the manner of Gillows. This Georgian 18th century regency bookcase retains its original patina and has wonderful triple reeded astragal glazed doors. The interior secretaire is fitted with an arrangement of satinwood drawers and pigeon holes; beneath which are two cupboard doors with a sliding tray. This design bears close resemblance to those used by Gillows in the 1780/90’s and is almost identical to the central section of the Charles James Fox bookcase signed by H.Y. Walker.
